On the morning of July 4th, the opening ceremony of the 2025 Summer Chinese Language and Jiaodong Culture Study Camp of Yantai University was held in Room 104 of Yuxiu Building. Wu Hongjun, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and Secretary of the General Party Branch of the School of International Education Exchange, Qu Shijin, Dean of the School of International Education Exchange, as well as representatives of teachers and students from the summer camp, attended the ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by Jing Kangning, Director of the International Students Affairs Office.
Wu Hongjun extended a warm welcome to the students and elaborated on Yantai University’s development history, discipline construction and international school-running characteristics. He stated that Yantai University has always been committed to cultivating outstanding talents with an international perspective and cross-cultural communication capabilities. He hoped that the students would cherish the learning opportunity, deeply experience Chinese language and Jiaodong culture, and strive to be envoys of cultural exchange between China and foreign countries.
In his speech, Qu Shijin introduced the curriculum arrangement and learning content of the study camp, and put forward specific requirements on safety discipline, learning attitude and other aspects. He encouraged the students to further improve their Chinese proficiency, gain an in-depth understanding of traditional Chinese culture, and promote friendship and exchanges between Chinese and foreign youth through this study camp.
Li Ping, a teacher representative, also expressed sincere expectations for the students and wished them a smooth journey in China with the blessings: “May you travel safely” and “Hope we meet again next year”!
The study camp lasts for 35 days and is expected to receive more than 130 students from 8 groups in Russia. In recent years, the School of International Education Exchange has built the Summer Chinese Language and Jiaodong Culture Study Camp into a brand activity for international education at Yantai University. With rich content and diverse forms, the camp includes not only language courses such as Chinese conversation, reading and writing, vocabulary and grammar, but also traditional Chinese culture experience courses like calligraphy, traditional Chinese painting, tea art, lacquer fan making and Baduanjin (an ancient Chinese fitness qigong). In addition, the campers will visit characteristic scenic spots in Jiaodong to experience Jiaodong culture. Through the combination of classroom learning and field visits, the camp helps international students comprehensively understand Chinese language and Jiaodong culture, and enhance their sense of identity and affinity with Chinese society.
After the opening ceremony, all teachers and students took a group photo to record this unforgettable and beautiful moment. Through this study camp, the students will not only further improve their language skills and deeply perceive Jiaodong culture, but also personally experience the unique charm and warm atmosphere of “Studying at Yantai University”.
